JA Ritter (Judy Ritter) JA is a native of Louisiana and a longtime resident of Etowah County, Alabama. Her interests lie in the visual arts, preferring mixed media of acrylics and oils, and in poetry. JA has studied art from several local and regional artists. She is represented by Atchison Gallery in Mountain Brook, Artists Gallery in Orange Beach, and Gale Gallery in the French Quarter of New Orleans. JA is a member of the board of directors at the Walnut Gallery in Gadsden. JA is married to Andy and lives on a farm near Altoona, Alabama. Her feelings toward art are expressed in the following statements. As long as I can remember, I have had a love for art—in all forms. Even as a child I was drawn to art books and paintings. My travels as an adult took me to Europe where I was able to see with my own eyes original paintings of the artists I loved so much—Monet, Manet, Degas, Van Gogh. I experienced the emotions along with these artists as I studied their work. Now as an artist, I strive with color and loose brush strokes to give movement and breath to my paintings. A painting should never be static, but should express emotion over and over again for each viewer who sees it, just as the artist experienced that emotion while doing the work.
