Sandy Tilt

Sandy Tilt, a self-taught artist, has always been a creative and imaginative person. She fell in love with oil palette knife painting when taking a course from a Sudanese artist, Osama Mohamed, in the United Arab Emirates in 2002.

Sandy uses several techniques in her palette knife painting. One technique is applying paint in thick layers, letting each layer dry before applying the next layer. The ridged texture of the paint stands out and casts tiny shadows giving a perception of movement and changing light. A second technique is blending the paint into a very smooth layer, creating a totally different effect. She loves the palette knife but also uses brushes which can give a more realistic approach. Sandy does not have just one style of painting because she loves having the freedom to try it ALL!

Sandy has exhibited her work in Art Walk for 4 years, 2008 Energen Art Competition, Birmingham Art Association Exhibitions and Mountain Brook Art Association Exhibitions
